Please don't hesitate to ask questions, I'll answer anything I can... As of recording this video I'm working primarily in California but within the next few weeks I'll be working primarily out of Tennessee. I'll change this caption to reflect my current whereabouts, but my instagram bio also holds such information.

    Pentax just launched a very basic film camera (Pentax 17) which has some toy camera like features .... for $550 !!!! I just bought my 2nd 5D for $200. There is no area where the Pentax film camera will produce a better image than the 5D. I can't believe these 5D cameras aren't just snapped up at this insane price. I really have to stop myself from buying all of them, because fairly soon the film hipsters will discover them, and they'll be $1,000.

    I mainly watch hairtube for inspiration these days, not learning so much. Not that I know everything, but haircut tutorials are all the same, rehashing the same old "nuggets" I've seen thousands of times. ADH is the only channel where I learn something I didn't know every time. Thanks Andrew, I've learnt alot from you over the years.

    I appreciate your videos a lot, but some unsolicited constructive criticism is that they'd land a lot better if you presented yourself more confidently and with less self-deprecation. If you do that I genuinely think you could go from good to great as a channel.

    ADH Dry is by far the best product I’ve used since Redken Rough Clay was discontinued (the “new” version you can get at some sites isn’t anywhere near the same 😒). Thank you so much for this product. Is there any chance you’ll ever change the scent, or offer a variety of scents? The only complaint I have is the current scent. It’s not awful, just not my cup of tea

I’m not a professional photographer but have an EF85 1.8 stuck to it for every occasion and it’s makes me look like a pro every time with people at events couples with Canon Connect it’s still worth taking with me even with all these cell phone cameras around. Thank you

      Agreed. I wasn’t looking at images much during this comparison but later found that the 6D has way nicer colors- more stylized and attractive. I rarely grab my R6 for photos anymore and instead reach for my 5D classic or 6D. I just keep the R6 around for when I need a fast burst rate or a flippy screen.

    I jumped on the bandwagon and bought one for $140,within a couple of days I bent a CF card pin and had to send it off for repair ($143). I tried to wait but I was dying to try the camera out so I got another one for $127 and really liked the way it operates.Coming from a film background,it was a lot more familiar.I am now REALLY CAREFUL when messing with the CF card.So now the other one is repaired and serviced,I have two.......................................................

    However, the entry-level and semipro bodies tend to fail much earlier than their rated shutter life. Various components start giving trouble. The shutter button and top wheel are prone to early breakdown and need replacement as per my experience. It happened to my 40D and 50D. The 70D had other issues mainly; it ceases to function if the video option is used frequently . These issues are non-existent on my pro bodies i.e., 1DIV, 5DII, 5DIII and 7D.

    I bought one about 7 years ago for not a lot of money to get back into photography and yes its a good no nonsense camera. I got a few cheap old EF USM lenses and had a blast with it. It worked amazingly with a Canon EF 70-210MM F3.5 USM lens that I got on Ebay for like £50.I used it at showjumping events and got great results. I sold it on a few years back as I got a 6D and a 7D. Yeah its a good start.

      Thanks for the feedback! You should check out the 40D as well. Very similar charm, but with a snappier response and a surprisingly fast burst rate. I got one for $40 and another for $60, and I’ve been enjoying them in cases where I want more reach with less size- like when I would have used the 5D with a 70-200mm lens instead I’ll grab the 40D with a 24-105 F4 or a 100mm F2 and it’s way more manageable to throw into my shoulder bag

    What do you do when the hair on the top of your head is too thin to ever even think of trying to cover the cowlicks? I have about 4 or 5 of them - it's a nightmare. There's one we refer to as the epicenter - looks like an explosion and right below that is the great divide- where the hair on either side of this split, that takes up the entire back side of my head, grows in opposite directions!! Ugh

    Can i use coconut oil before blow dryer as a heat protectant pls reply?

    • @andrewdoeshair
      @andrewdoeshair 28 днів тому

      I’m going to say theoretically that it’s not the best idea if you’re using the dryer to set in a style. If the hair can’t dry all the way it won’t “set” and certain waxes and oils will have so much of a moisturizing effect on the hair that they’ll prevent thermal styling. Kind of like how a waxy lip balm keeps your lips from drying, certain waxes and oils will keep your hair acting like it’s wet. But also, try it. See if it works. I’ve never tried it. That’s why I say theoretically. If it doesn’t work then look into something like Oi Oil by Davines, or Moroccan Oil. Products that are designed to do this. I know I’d personally prefer to use a single ingredient product (like coconut oil), but only if it worked.

    FYI: The dirt inside the viewfinder/prism of my classic was bugging me, so followed a UA-cam video how to clean. Disassembled the focusing screen, others screen and gave them a good clean. Now my back focusing issue is gone. Whether the clean or the reassembly fixed it, don’t know. It just works perfect now. 😊

      That’s good to know! I might have to do that. I noticed that my diopter doesn’t have a sweet spot, or at least when it’s as good as it gets it still looks soft. I’ve wondered if it would be worth it to tear the camera apart and see if something is grimy or crooked in there

    The points about Canon colour and the build quality of the 40D even apply to the entry level Canon of the time, the 400D (aka Rebel XTi). I still have the 400D I bought new and although it's not my first shooter any more, every time I pick it up I love it. If you want to "benchmark" build quality, consider that I was able to get a Canon-built battery grip for my 400D, and the hand feel is awesome. You are in the $2500+ price range in today's Canon lineup before a battery grip is even an option. Of course, newer cameras have much better ISO and shutter speed performance. You should expect that 20 years of evolution provide technical improvement. But the complexity of new cameras like my Canon R8 is potentially overwhelming. I'm not a beginner any more but I'd still like to be able to hide menu items I know I don't care about (collecting "most used" menu items into more menus isn't the same thing).

    • @andrewdoeshair
      @andrewdoeshair Місяць тому

      Great points! This is a video I've thought more about since posting than I did before posting, and hopefully a lesson to myself about recording something half thought-out. I very briefly owned a Rebel T1i ( I think it's called a 500D elsewhere) and I recall being surprised by the build quality and colors, but I never used it for more than an afternoon before gifting it to a budding photographer... I should have looked into other models from the era with similar build quality to expand on that point. I also wish I would have compared the 40D to the XXXD or rebel range as far as the controls go, and that I would have spoken on the value of the top screen as a selling point over a Rebel. I've realized since recording this that the straight row of dual function buttons on top are invaluable, as well as being able to glance a the top screen. I was shooting with my R6 for the first time in a long time the other day and realized that I didn't want the back screen to be turned on because the battery life was just MELTING away, and while shooting in aperture priority it was faster and easier to just exposure bracket every shot (new appreciation for fast burst rate) than it was to find the meter in the viewfinder and make any exposure compensation adjustments in the moment. I realized that with my 5D bodies, my 6D, and my 40D I glance at the meter almost subconsciously on that top screen, like I do it without knowing I'm doing it, and it's that reflex which made the 40D feel surprisingly comfortable and familiar on day one...

    • @ronjenkins4257
      @ronjenkins4257 Місяць тому

      @@andrewdoeshair I think the physical controls are the primary difference between the 40D and the Rebel line. My cameras are 400D, T7i, and R8. None of these have the top screen or back wheel, so I don't really know what I'm missing in usability from those physical features.
